One of my areas of special focus is supporting individuals and couples through the transition to parenthood. This includes challenges related to pregnancy, fertility and reproductive concerns, adjusting to life with a new baby, and navigating perinatal and postpartum mood and anxiety disorders.
Becoming a parent is a profound shift—physically, emotionally, and relationally. It can stir up complex feelings around identity, partnership, and societal expectations. New mothers, in particular, may grapple with guilt, self-doubt, or grief as they compare themselves to others or struggle with decisions around feeding, childcare, and career. These pressures can feel isolating, even while surrounded by others.
For many BIPOC parents, this transition may also bring up intergenerational patterns, cultural expectations, and the added weight of navigating parenthood within systems that often lack adequate support and representation. There can be unique challenges in balancing traditional values with one’s own evolving identity as a parent.
Therapy offers a nonjudgmental space to process these experiences, make sense of the changes, and reconnect with your values and confidence as a parent. My approach is collaborative, culturally responsive, and grounded in your unique story—whether you’re navigating this transition for the first time or again under new circumstances.
